Breast augmentation is one of the most frequently performed plastic surgery procedures today. Many women may choose to have breast implants because they are unhappy with the way their breasts look, which often has an impact on self-esteem.
Breast augmentation will enlarge your breasts, making them firmer and fuller. It will not move your breasts closer together, alter the nipple symmetry, or lift droopy breasts. (You may like to consider a breast lift or mastopexy if you have droopy breasts. Please see the section on this).
Breast augmentation is performed to improve the body contour of a woman who, for personal reasons, feels that her breasts are too small, to replace breast volume lost as a result of pregnancy or breast feeding and to improve the appearance of breasts when there is a size difference.
For whatever reason you are considering breast augmentation surgery, it is important that the decision is yours alone and you are not considering it to please someone else. It is important that you have realistic expectations, as the surgery will change your figure, but not your life.
If you are over the age of 18, have realistic expectations, are unhappy with the size and/or shape of your breasts, you may be a candidate for breast implants.
Ask yourself:
Breast augmentation surgery is not an option during pregnancy, breast feeding, or in the presence of any active infection in the body.

At your first visit you will be required to fill in a registration form, the details of which will be securely filed.
You will then see our cosmetic surgeon, who will discuss the concerns you have about your breasts and the results you would like to achieve. You should be specific about what you would like to achieve. If your surgeon fully understands your expectations, he will be able to determine whether your goals are realistic. Our cosmetic surgeon will then explain the various options available to you, describe the outcomes he expects and advise you of any possible complications or side effects.
During your consultation we will take a full medical history and conduct a physical examination. He will also take photographs. Breast measurements are taken using a calliper and a measuring tape. This will help to determine any asymmetry of the breasts and also help with implant sizing.
Our registered nurse can be present during your physical examination if you choose.
The following are some things to consider prior to meeting with our cosmetic surgeon and will be discussed with you during your consultation:
Following your consultation with our cosmetic surgeon you will meet with our Practice Manager, who will organise an estimation of the cost of your surgery and will co-ordinate the booking of your procedure. During this time and prior to the day of your surgery, we will be available to answer any questions you may have. Our practice manager will organise a time for you to meet with our practice nurse, who will also work closely with you in the work up to your procedure, providing you with all the information you need about pre and post operative care.
